Airplanes need to have high transportation efficiency and good flight performance, which requires low density of structural materials, excellent performance, and high strength, high toughness, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance and high weldability. One of the important problems of aircraft in increasing the speed of navigation is the degradation of material performance caused by the long-term increase in fuselage skin temperature. The aircraft fuselage skin can be made of 2000 series hard aluminum alloy, such as 2a12 aluminum plate, 2024 aluminum plate, etc.
After quenching, the 2024 aluminum alloy undergoes natural aging treatment to obtain relatively high tensile strength and toughness. Because of its very high specific strength, it is generally used to make fuselage skins, girders, bulkheads, and wings on airplanes structural materials. The aircraft aluminum alloy is characterized by high strength, good heat resistance and processing performance, but poor corrosion resistance, usually through anodizing or cladding to improve corrosion resistance.
2024 aluminum alloy has relatively good fatigue resistance, especially in thick plates, making it suitable for most aircraft structural applications. 2024 aluminum alloy plates are widely used in fuselage structures, wingspans, bearing webs and structural areas that require high strength and good fatigue properties.
